The advantage of SMS Call Back over ordinary Call Back is that you can pre-programme the whole call (SMS number and calling number) into your mobile phone. You then only have to call the pre-programmed name to make the call. Perfect for when you call a few people a lot or for when you’re in the car and can’t struggle to make a call.

How Much Does It Cost?

Because Voipfone is calling you back, the call is much cheaper than a standard mobile call. Apart from saving you a lot of money (up to £1.90 per minute for International calls while abroad, and 18p per minute for calls to other UK mobiles, depending on your plan.) you no longer need to top-up your mobile phone; you just keep credit in your Voipfone account.

The way this works is that Voipfone makes a call to you, then one to the person you’re calling; then connects both together. So you will be charged for two calls. But because our prices are so much lower than your mobile provider even with two calls we are much cheaper. You will also have a one-off charge for the SMS call at 8p. If you use our inclusive SMS service this charge can be reduced to 4.5p.

So to find out how much a call from your mobile to a land line in the UK would cost, look up calls to UK mobile (this is Voipfone calling you back); 11p/min (or less), then calls to UK (this is the number you want to call in the UK; 1.1p/min. That’s just 12.1p/min. (Don’t forget to add whatever you pay for an SMS message add what you pay for an SMS message onto the final total).

NOTE: If you are abroad you can avoid roaming charges by buying a cheap local SIM card from the country you are visiting. Remember to enable international calling and make sure your calling ID is switched on.

How Do I Use It?

First you must register your mobile phone with us. To do this enter your mobile number here https://www.voipfone.co.uk/index.php?action=RegisterMobile Once you’ve registered and, so long as you’ve account is in credit, you can start making calls.

To make the call you need to create a text message that looks like this:

call space
[the number you want to call] space
[your voipfone account number] space
[your voipfone password]

So when you're done it will look something like this:

call 02070435555 30099999 999999
(nb the word 'call' must be all in lower case)

You then send the message to 07786200161.

(If you are abroad, the number becomes 00447786200161)

After a short time your mobile phone will ring. Simply answer the call and after a couple of seconds you will be connected to the person you want to speak to.
