The Voipfone PBX comes with a long list of free services and features.
You can have up to 799 phone extensions (200 to 998) on one account.
Extensions can be in the same office, a remote office, a home office or even another country - wherever they are calls between them are free of charge.
We do not restrict the number of simultaneous calls you can make on our PBX; you are limited only by your own network and bandwidth.
The Voipfone Control Panel allows you to manage all of your account settings, so you can tailor the system according to your specific business requirements. It's also the place to go to see your call history, manage your payments, top up your call credit and buy new services.
You can have as many phone numbers as you like all routed to the same extension, or a different number for each extension so people can call in directly without having to go through a receptionist or switchboard. We offer volume discounts if you have more than 10 phone numbers on your account. Please contact us if you require a contiguous block of numbers adding to your account.
Many hardware VoIP telephones have function keys that can be set up as 'busy lamps', to show which other extensions are busy or ringing. You can also simply press that key and the phone will dial the number for you.
If your telephone or adapter supports it, you can be notified that you have a voicemail message waiting. This will either be a flashing light (VoIP phones) or stuttered dial tone (adapters and analogue telephones) or sometimes an occasional ring (adapters); you will need to check the manual for your particular device to see how to switch this function off and on.
Every Voipfone account comes with free Voicemail as standard. You have one mailbox for the main account, and for business customers, one for each individual extension and call group as well.
Also known as CLI (Calling Line Identity), Caller ID identifies your phone to the network, and allows the called party to see who is calling them. If you have multiple phone numbers on your Voipfone account, you can choose which one is displayed when you make a call.
This enables you to see which of your phone numbers is being called, instead of the number of the person calling you. If you run more than one business but only have one telephone, you will be able to answer the phone with the correct business name.
When you call 1471 we read back to you the number of the last customer to call you, whether you answered it or not (Note - this can only work if the caller has not withheld their number). Calls to 1471 are free. If you miss a call, you can call them back straightaway by pressing 3 on your phone. If the call was abusive or an annoying sales call, you can block future calls from that number by pressing the * key (Call Barring service required).
Answer any extension that is ringing directly from your own telephone
by simply dialing **
followed by the extension's number.
For example: **200. You will need to ensure you have our call pickup
service configured for this to work.
If you're going out but still need to receive an important call, you can forward your Voipfone calls to any number, anywhere. You can also set diverts for when you are busy (already on another call), or don't answer for a certain number of seconds.
We offer a special divert called PSTN failover, which sends calls to an alternate number if your phone stops registering with our network for any reason. So if your internet goes down or your power fails you don't need to lose incoming calls. You can have a separate failover for each extension, so should the worst happen, you have a simple and automatic way of coping.
When you put a caller on hold, they will hear music until you're ready to pick the call up again. We provide a free music on hold service using music that we own the rights to (no licence required). We also offer a custom music on hold service which allows you to upload your own sound files and play the music most appropriate to your business.
You can easily transfer any call you are making to another person, anywhere, on any network, either mobile or landline. To transfer a call, just press the # key twice (quickly) for example ## and then dial the number of the person you want to transfer your caller to, and your phone will then hang up. The caller will hear music while waiting to be transferred.
With call waiting, you'll know when someone is calling, even if you're using the phone at the time. You can put your first caller on hold and answer the second then toggle between them as much as you like.
Voipfone supports 3-way calling for hardware adapters and VoIP telephones. Consult your user manual for instructions. Note: this feature is not yet available on the free Voipfone softphone.
If you have access to the internet, you can use your Control Panel to make a call to any telephone anywhere and have it charged to your Voipfone account, not the account of the phone owner.
Your inbound, outbound and missed call history is available in real time from your Control Panel.
We provide you with a free address book which you can use to keep track of all your friends' and customers' details.
You can make Internet telephone calls from your PC using a free softphone which turns your PC into a fully featured telephone. All you need is a PC, loudspeakers and a microphone (or a headset), and an internet connection.
The Voipfone Softphone app turns your mobile into an extension of our PBX so you can home-work or office-work wherever you are; exactly as you do at home or in the office.
